- My institution has a subscription to AJHP and access to AJHP Online, but I'm not able to see the full text of articles. I'm prompted for a username and password. Why is this happening?
When this happens, the IP address for your machine is not being recognized. This failure is caused by one of three things:
Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated
The person who "activated" the online subscription did not enter in all needed IP addresses for your institution
The person who "activated" the online subscription does not realize that some subnets of your institution are routed through a proxy server
What should I do?
Send us Feedback so we can begin to diagnose the problem.
Talk to your librarian, and let them know you are having trouble.
- My library subscribes to the print version of AJHP, but I can't get access to it online. Why?
Either your institution has not yet activated its institutional subscription to AJHP Online or it has a print subscription with single-user access which requires you to use an ID number and password. Notify your library that you would like access to AJHP Online, and encourage your librarian to purchase an institutional subscription.
- Who from my institution can access AJHP Online?
If your organization has an institutional subscription to AJHP, you should have access. Access is granted through the use of IP addresses and is controlled by an account administrator at your institution. If your institution has an online subscription, but you do not have access, please consult your librarian or the individual in charge of subscriptions.
- How does an institutional subscription work?
When someone attempts to use AJHP, our server checks to see if the requesting computer is within the list of internet IP address provided by the subscribing institution. If it is, the reader will be able to use all those services enabled for institutional readers. For institutional subscribers, there are no usernames or passwords to remember, and there is currently no limit on the number of readers from your institution who may access AJHP Online simultaneously.
If readers want to access AJHP Online form computers that are not part of your institutional network, they can do so through an individual or member subscription (see below).
- What subscription packages are available?
When you join ASHP, your membership includes a print subscription plus online access, controlled via ID and password. You may also purchase an individual subscription to the journal, or you can provide your entire staff or institution with online assess.
An Individual, Non-Member Subscription includes one print copy of the Journal (24 issues a year) plus single-user access to the online journal via user ID and password. Online access includes tables of contents, full text searching and display, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline and much more.
Institutional Subscriptions allow access for multiple users via IP address set up. Pricing is set by tier. Online access includes tables of contents, full text searching and display, document delivery, PDFs, links to Medline and much more
- How can I tell if my institution has subscribed to AJHP?
If your institution has a subscription, you'll automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, and full-text HTML and PDF versions of all articles. You'll also see a button at the top of the page confirming you're signed in as part of an institution.
- Can my institution subscribe only to the electronic version?
Currently all institutions receive one copy of the print version of AJHP along with their online subscription. The only exception to this is large international institutional subscribers.
- If our AJHP subscription expires and at some later date we reinstate our subscription, will we have access to all years of the electronic version?
Yes, when you buy a subscription to AJHP Online, you have access to all years of the database.
- How can I access AJHP Online if I am not an ASHP member and I don't have access through an institutional subscription?
You may purchase AJHP as an individual subscriber or you may wish to apply for ASHP membership. Without a subscription you have access to the table of contents, abstracts, and full text searching (but not full text viewing) at no cost and without having to register.
